八月底我們將會有個小小的比賽,用沙爹棒(就是那種頭是尖的的非常細的烤肉木串棒)架一座長500mm的橋,寬度(由上方看橋)最小100mm,深度(從側邊看橋的高度尺寸)最大200mm。比賽的時候.橋必須在沒有其他物品的輔助下,站在兩邊尺寸200mm x 40mm的木頭上(主辦單位提供)。比賽時會放上一塊重50kg(500N)尺寸200mm x 10mm的木塊,都能成功支撐者,橋本身重量較輕者獲勝。

●General
Participants are required to build a bridge model with the given satay sticks. A load will be applied on top of the bridge at the middle of the span, with increasing magnitude. The bridge will be tested to failure. The objective of the competition is to achieve the highest failure load to self-weight ratio.
●Specifications
(a)Dimensions
The model should span 500 mm measured from the inner face of the support as shown in Fig 1.(圖請恕我就不放上來了,就是尺寸的圖) The minimum width and maximum depth dimensions are 100 mm and 200 mm respectively . The model must be able to stand by itself on two wooden supports of size 200 mm x 400 mm. The supports are provided by the organiser. The lowest point of the model should be at the two supporting ends. The bridge can be of any shape.
A wooden strip of 200 mm x 10 mm will be used as the loading head for load application.
(b.)Materials
One bundle of satay sticks will be given to each team. Participants are only allowed to use the satay sticks to construct the model. However, there is no restriction in the use of materials or adhesives for the constructions of connections, namely the nodes and splices.
(c.)Maximum Testing Load
Due to the limited capacity of the load cell (50kg), the applied load is capped at 50kg which is equivalent to 500N.
(d.)Exterior and Interior Clearances
To allow free traffic movement, exterior and interior clearances are required
●Judging Criteria
(a.) Models that do not comply with the specifications for dimensions, materials and exterior and interior clearances will be disqualified.
(b.)The winning awards go to the teams that produce the models with the highest failure load to self-weight ratio. The failure load is taken as the load at which the model crushes.
The judges' decision is final.
